Pre-Planning Surveys, Reports & Advice

The pre-planning survey and report is used in the early design stage of a project.

A tree survey, undertaken to BS5837:2012, identifies and assesses existing  trees on and within influencing distance of the site. This data is used to complete a pre-development report, providing advice and recommendations with regards to future development and trees.

The report is accompanied by a Tree Constraints Plan to aid with project design.

Arboricultural Method Statement (AMS)

This document may be required as a condition of planning and is usually required in addition to the Arboricultural Impact Assessment.

An AMS provides site-specific measures that are required to ensure that retained trees within and around the site are protected during development works.

Arboricultural Impact Assessment (AIA)

An Arboricultural Impact (or Implications Assessment) is often required to be submitted with a planning application where trees are present on and within close proximity to site.

This report can follow on from the survey information gathered from the pre-planning survey, or produced if a proposed development is already in the development design stage.

An AIA assesses the impacts upon trees in relation to the proposed development. Mitigation recommendations are included within the report to protect existing trees to be retained and compensate for those to be lost to facilitate the works.

The report is accompanied by a Tree Protection Plan (TPP), which shows trees to be retained and removed on site, and highlights mitigation measures recommended.
